Research Duration Start:
1 December 2011
30 November 2013
Research Location Amganad, Banaue, Ifugao
Research Description The project, in general, seeks to communicate research-based information on nutrient-water dynamics, biodiversity, and agricultural productivity of the muyong and payoh systems, evaluate the effectiveness of the communication materials and resource kit that were produced, and prepare a policy brief based on the research results of the project. Methods and activities include GIS mapping of village households and communication resources; participatory rapid appraisal techniques; baseline survey; development, testing, and evaluation of communication materials and resource kit; participatory communication training; and formulation of policy brief based on research results. Project outputs on nutrient-water dynamics and biodiversity in the muyong and payoh systems provide a rich source of new and useful information that can benefit key stakeholders. The research results will be communicated effectively to stakeholders who can use the information to make wise decisions and informed choices relevant to the adoption, modification, or rejection of an organic farming technology.
Research Objectives This project will develop communication materials to disseminate and share the research-based information derived from the two research projects in muyong-payoh landscape, evaluate the materials, and formulate policy brief relevant to the systems. The evaluation results will provide insights into the use or application of muyong and payoh systems as well as provide directions on further research about the systems.
