Research Description The project will analyze the egg development and fecundity of berried crabs in hatchery condition at different holding temperatures. Furthermore, the eggs produced in hatchery condition will be reared in comparison to eggs from broodstock developed in natural conditions for seed production.
Research Objectives The study aims to analyze the egg development and fecundity of berried crabs in hatchery condition at different holding temperatures. Furthermore, the eggs produced in hatchery condition will be reared in comparison to eggs from broodstock developed in natural conditions for seed production. It will specifically determine the following: 1. Estimate the fecundity of the blue swimming crab, P. pelagicus during oviposition period under culture conditions and to establish mathematical relationship between fecundity, carapace width, carapace length, body weight and weight of eggs oviposition useful for seed production. 2. Produce crab instar for stock enhancement in Samar.
