Research Description This project will provide the production technology for an alternative crustacean species which can supplement the declining production from the marine shrimp industry. The adoption of the culture technology will be promoted for rural communities where the Macrobrachium species is found.
Research Objectives This study aims to shift focus on an indigenous crustacean species of Caridean prawn, the Macrobrachium lar by evaluating the domestication and culture potential of the species to provide alternative crustacean food species and to diversify the Philippine aquaculture industry.
