Research Description This project will be conducted to acquire baseline data on the bioactive components of the identified Philippine indigenous berries.
Research Objectives This project mainly aims to establish the profile of the bioactive components and bioactivity of Philippine indigenous berries namely lipote and two (2) varieties of bignay.
Research Beneficiary(ies) Berry farmers, scientific community specifically researchers on berries, micro on berries,micro, small and medium scale enterprises engaged in berry products, technopreneurs, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical and nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industry, functional food industry, thesis students
Research Accoplishments [CY 2018] 1. Products - phytochemical profiles and proofs of bioactives of the lipote and bignay which may be used for future claims of the functional foods to be developed;; 2. Publications - presentations in local (2) and international conferences (1); 3. People - mentored MS and PhD students; 4. Places - set-up of bioactives analytical laboratory equipment with HPLC
