Research Description Metrology, the Science of measurement is very vital for fair trade, consumer protection, health, safety, product quality, R&D, and environmental protection of a country. The importance of measurement can be seen practically everywhere, when buying commodities by weight, getting blood pressure for diagnosis, measuring diameter for proper fit, time of day, duration of metered call, speed, and for R&D among other things. For the Philippines is led by and practically centered at the national metrology laboratory (NML) of the Industrial Technology Development Institute. The NML has been granted ISO 17025:2005 accreditation by Dakks in Braunshweig, Germany in 2012. This has been a great milestone for NML to be recognized worldwide for Measurement capabilites or CMCs.
Research Objectives The overall aim of the program develop anti-infective and anti-pain herbal products from endemic, indigenous and rate plants from Regional 2.
Research Beneficiary(ies) Hospitals, General public, metrology institutions approval.
Research Accoplishments [CY 2019] 1.Product – A minimum of 100 extracts screened for antiinfective and anti-pain bioactivates; Priority non-toxic bioactive extracts to be pursued in further projects under the program; 2.Places and Partnerships – establishment of assay facility for anti-infective and anti-pain plant extracts; establish TLDC laboratory; collaboration with UPD NIMBB; DOST 2; National Commission on Indigenous People; Nueva Vizcaya State University; Isabela State University; Batanes State College; National Historical Institutes: Provincial Governments of Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Batanes, Cagayan, Tribal communities of Bugkalatos, Isanay, Gaddang of Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela, Agta and Malaueg of Cagayan; 3.People Services – Trained personnel in primary assays for anti-pain particularly COS; 4.Publications – At least 1 published article in a referred journal
