Research Description Study of the basic wood properties of Philippine teak and related properties will lead to its optimum use. The species is reportedly classified as comparatively heavy and durable, and can be used as substitute for Molave. However, its potential as first class timber has not yet been investigated. If this project will be implemented, other potential use of Philippine teak will be determined which will lead to its mass propagation and can be recommended as raw material in the wood-based using industries if its properties will be found suitable for such potential uses. Moreover, mass propagation of the Philippine teak would be a source of income for Lobo, Batangas farmers where this species is growing. Knowledge on the species anatomical variations is very important as far as wood quality evaluation studies and tree improvement programs are concerned.
Research Objectives Study of the basic wood properties of the Philippine teak and related properties will lead to its optimum use. Determination of other potential use of P. teak will lead to its mass propagation and can be recommended as raw material in the wood-based using industries if its properties will be found suitable for such potential uses.
